What I intend to do with two years
A term on the Board of Rotary International is twenty-four months long. That is not very much time, so I have chosen five things rather than fifteen. Here they are, and here is how you can check whether I have done them.
1. Africa at the table, not on the agenda
For the first time, Africa enjoys unprecedented representation at the highest levels of Rotary International. That is not an achievement; it is an opening. In October 2026, the Rotary International Board meets in Uganda. My job is to make sure the continent is heard as a contributor of ideas, not received as a recipient of them.

2. Grow membership by making Rotary worth joining
Participation comes first. People do not leave Rotary because the fees are high. They leave because nothing was asked of them. Membership growth and strategic partnerships are how we extend Rotary’s reach, but growth follows meaning, never the other way round.

3. Endow peace
The Rotary Peace Centre at Makerere trains peace fellows on full scholarship at a minimum of fifteen thousand dollars each, and it is funded year to year. I want it endowed before I leave the Board, so that it never again depends on how good a night the concert had.

4. Close the blood and health gap
The Mengo blood bank works. One does not. I want the model — Rotary capital, hospital operation, national integration — documented, packaged and offered to any district in Africa that wants to repeat it.

5. Hand the wheel to the young
Interact, Rotaract and institutional clubs like the one we chartered at Ntare School. I was fourteen when Rotary reached me. We should stop treating that as a charming anecdote and start treating it as a strategy.
